I sort of abandon this blog last spring due to a variety of circumstances. Now I’m restarting it because… I guess because it’s never too late to start again.

I’ve fallen off the wagon a bit — posting, not taking photographs — but I do intend to get caught up after this weekend. It’s been a flurry of activity that I’ve been trying to cope with and I’ll hopefully be back up to speed shortly.
Here is a photo of my daughter. I tried to mimic the quality of light that Jill Greenberg uses in her photos, but I don’t have five strobes at my disposal. this was done with sunlight and one small camera strobe placed over her head. I used one diffuser and two silver reflectors to shape the light on her face.
Flash and ambient, 200 feet underground. The flash froze the foreground but I had to keep very still for another 2.5 seconds for the weak ambient light to fill in. Most of the images I could hold pretty steady but the slight tremble in this one makes it look like they’re standing before a burning house.
